County Cavan is blessed with numerous lakes and gently flowing rivers. It's said that the county has 365 lakes - that's one for every day in the year! As a result Cavan offers first class angling facilities, so anyone keen on fishing will feel right at home here. Cavan also offers spectacular scenery, excellent golfing facilities, equestrian trails...basically everything you want for an action packed holiday away from the hustle and bustle.
Belturbet facilities are situated in the heart of coarse angling in Ireland. It is an ideal location for fishermen seeking an opportunity to catch the finest fish Ireland has to offer.


Angling
County Cavan, often referred to as Ireland's premier angling location, is an ideal spot for the keen angler.
For coarse fishing the waters can be fished all year round. The rivers and lakes around the county hold good stocks of Bream, Trudd, Roach, Pike, Perch and Trench and there are also plenty of opportunities for game fishing for brown trout.
There are also a number of annual festivals held throughout the county with angling as a central theme, the main one being the Festival of the Erne in Belturbet, held annually at the end of July.

Golfing
County Cavan boasts some of the best golf settings in Ireland. If you don't mind the changing weather and a challenging round of golf, Cavan is definitely the place to be. The county's top courses include Belturbet Golf Course, a nine-hole parkland course which is suitable for golfers of all levels.
The Slieve Russell Golf Course is a championship 18 hole parkland course at the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan. It's quite a challenging course and has held a number of major tournaments in the past.
County Cavan Golf Club is located about a mile outside Cavan town just off the Killeshandra Road. It's an 18 hole, par 70 parkland course offering some of the finest golfing conditions in the country.

Equestrian
Cavan is a fantastic destination for an equestrian holiday. You'll have plenty of opportunities to test your pony trekking and horse riding skills here. The county offers excellent riding schools. Here are some of the best:
Cavan Equestrian and Horse Marketing Centre in Latt, Cavan. The centre was opened in 1983 and is run by the Clarke family. It's suitable for riders of all ages.
Redhills Equestrian Centre Killynure, Redhills, Co Cavan. Again this centre is suitable for all ages but specialises in activities for kids, boasts excellent facilities and is perfect for trekking.
Belturbet has plenty to offer, beautiful walks around the historic Turbet Island, and along the banks of the River Erne, also golfing, equestrian, watersports, boating,and angling to name but a few and also a warm welcome will be extended to all our visitors.
