Lakeland House is located in an area of outstanding beauty – 1 mile from the beautiful village of Cong in Connemara on the borders of counties Mayo and Galway. Cong was the only village that featured on TripAdvisor's top 10 Irish destinations in 2018 and 2019. The village is an inland island surrounded by water, with quaint shops and cafes and historical ruins dating back as far the 12th Century.

Lakeland House offers a choice of private en suite rooms, private rooms with shared bathrooms and shared dorm rooms.
With accommodation for up to 60 people, Lakeland House is ideal for groups, families, couples and individuals. The modern facilities include a well equipped self-catering kitchen (with fridge, freezer, microwaves, hobs, cutlery, crockery, pots and pans), sitting room, laundry, BBQ area, children's playground and free Wifi throughout.

Lakeland House is 5 minutes walk from Ireland's finest brown trout and salmon fishing on Lough Corrib and 10 minutes walk from the world famous Ashford Castle. Hawk walks are a real treat at Ireland's School of Falconry at Ashford Castle and Cruises on Lough Corrib depart from Lisloughrey Quay 5 minutes walk from Lakeland House.
There is an abundance of outdoor activities on Lakeland House's doorstep - from kayaking, horse riding, cycling and walking trails through the 2,000 acres of woodlands that surround Cong to more adventurous mountain climbs in Connemara including the Maamturks, the Twelve Bens, and Croagh Patrick – the Holy Mountain of Ireland's Patron Saint.
While it is easy to spend a week or more enjoying the many things to do and see in Cong (see our Things to do page), Lakeland House is very centrally located on the borders of counties Mayo and Galway, only 20 miles from the Wild Atlantic Way at Killary Harbour and 26 miles from Galway city and Westport – an ideal base from which to explore the west of Ireland, including the Aran Islands, Achill Island and the Marian Shrine at Knock. With the wonderful new motorway Cong is now only 2 and a half hours drive from Dublin.
